Over this past weekend, I visited my friend Emily in New York. It was a great mini vacation that I came back home feeling refreshed and the proud owner of my first jean jacket (Levi’s, $30 and a flea market find). On Friday, my first official day there – I had many adventures despite the rain, I went to the MET, the Neue Gallery, lunch at Bluestone Lane Cafe, photographed street style in between rain clouds (!), and a trip to Sokerbit.
Even before leaving for my trip, I couldn’t control my excitement for the Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons exhibit at the MET. Friday was the second day it was open to the public and Rei’s art/fashion was even better than I could have imagined. I probably could have stayed there all day because even though I took my time looking at each piece, if I looked away and then looked back, my eye always caught something I hadn’t seen before. If you like art or fashion in any way, I highly recommend you go!
I photographed this guy a few weeks back and not only did I love his look but I enjoyed the playfulness of his Comme des Garçons x Converse sneakers. The heart is so lighthearted and is actually from Rei’s PLAY collection which launched in 2004 and the heart logo is designed by Filip Pagowski. The logo is an ode to a feeling. (credit SSENSE).
